Petal Transportation Rules
Petal transportation means the following steps:
-
Booking of the company (obvious!): done by Jean-Charles at the moment
- Petal readiness: both AOH and module assembly files together with the LT files should be done before the shipment
-
Petal conditionning: check of the screws, packing of the petal in the plastic bag from Hamburg (with humidity absorbers inside) hermetically closed using adhesive tape
-
Installation inside the transportation blue box
- setting of the impact indicator using the special tweezer:

- fixing of the shock control system over the plastic bag:
- installation inside the box
-
Storage of the boxes ready to go close to the area where the loading will be done (but inside a hall!); Check again the impact indicator to avoid to loose time at
loading; we are responsible of the petals until they are loaded inside the van/car (the driver will only help at loading, not before!);
-
Loading inside the van/car like shown on the picture just below: the position as shown here is mandatory!!!
Each time a box is loaded, you should check
carefully together with the driver that the impact indicator is still set (if not, it will be quite impossible to complain about failures afterwards: you should reset
the indicator if needed, BUT then please inform me and the TIC)
Please DON'T sign the paper from the company until you estimate the petals are properly installed/fixed inside the car (the company is then responsible but a
drop could mean damages and we will only get monney, not a single new petal!)
Good to know: the IN2P3 assurance covers the transfer from the storage area into the van done by ourself.
-
Send a mail to the TIC Aachen or
CERN (and mee!) as soon as the driver leaves so
that we know the transportation is ongoing
- Report to me any kind of problem with the company so that we can react immediatly to improve the procedure
